The Alpeor pharmacopea
The Alpeor pharmacopoeia descended from the Swiss botanical tradition. The principal ingredients of Alpeor extracting from the Swiss plants were discovered in the splendid garden of Alpeor Flore-Alpe in Champex in the canton of Valais. This garden was built in 1927 and is one of the most ancient gardens in Switzerland, with more than 4000 species.
The garden has seen the success of numerous research projects carried out by University of Lausanne, University of Genève and University of Neuchâtel.

Geneva is famous for its history in plant research and possesses one of the largest herbariums in the world, with more than 6’000’000 species. Jean Senebier (1742-1809) is remembered for his contributions to the understanding of the influence of light on vegetation.
